ECAI Conferences

Every even-numbered year, EurAI, jointly with one of the member associations of EurAI, organizes a European Conference on AI. This conference, abbreviated ECAI, has become the leading conference for this field in Europe.

Next conferenceIJCAI-ECAI-2022, will take place in Vienna, Austria, hosted by ZIF  and the Kurt Goedel Society  .

In retrospect, the first ECAI meetings were considered to have been the AISB conferences: Brighton (1974), Edinburgh (1976), Hamburg (1978), Amsterdam (1980). Conferences using the name ECAI have been held in Orsay (1982), Pisa (1984), Brighton (1986), Munich (1988), Stockholm (1990), Vienna (1992), and Amsterdam (1994). In 1996, NJSZT, the Hungarian AI Society, organized ECAI-96, which was held in Budapest. In 1998, SSAISB, one of the two British member associations, organized ECAI-98, which was held in Brighton. ECAI-2000 took place in Berlin, Germany on 20-25 August 2000, hosted by GI/KI. On 21-26 July 2002 AFIA hosted ECAI-2002 in Lyon, France. ECAI-2004 took place in Valencia, Spain on 22-27 August 2004. It was hosted by AEPIA and ACIA. ECAI-2006 took place in Riva del Garda (Trentino), Italy. It was hosted by AIxIA and organized by ITC, Trento, Italy. ECAI-2008 took place in Patras, Greece. It was hosted by EETN and organized by the University of Patras. ECAI-2010 took place in Lisbon, Portugal. It was hosted by APPIA and organized by the University of Lisbon. ECAI-2012 took place in Montpellier, France. It was hosted by AFIA and organized by the Montpellier Laboratory of Informatics, Robotics and Microelectronics. The 21st biennial European Conference on Artificial Intelligence ECAI-2014 took place in Prague, Czech Republic. It was hosted by CSKI. ECAI-2016 took place in The Hague, The Netherlands, hosted by BNVKI/AIABN. IJCAI-ECAI-2018 took place in Stockholm, Sweden, hosted by SAIS. ECAI-2020 took place online from Santiago de Compostela, Spain. It was hosted by AEPIA and organised by CiTIUS, University of Santiago de Compostela.
